Our mission is to remove Afghanistan’s children of war from a state of anguish, isolation, and persecution, moving them instead toward a future of hope, opportunity, and justice.
Omeid means “Hope” in Farsi. By providing our children with the fundamental necessities for development—safe housing, education, health care, and nutrition—we nurture the life skills necessary for basic survival while also putting them on a path toward becoming the new leaders of a country desperately in need. We also see our work as building a bridge between cultures in conflict. Through our outreach efforts in the United States we have educated classrooms, communities, and a breadth of every day citizens on the nuances of the complex Afghan society.
Founded in 2005 and based out of the San Francisco Bay Area, this registered 501(c)(3) is composed of dedicated team of volunteers. Through the help of our countless supporters, this organization has gone from a nascent idea to successfully establishing the Amin Institute, an orphanage in Kabul, Afghanistan. This facility housed, educated, and cared for 17 boys since 2009. Since then, 11 of our boys have moved to a premier preparatory school in India, while the remaining 7 continue to receive our love and care.
